Goodbye Solid Valve, Hello Easy Valve!

If you have purchased a Volcano before 2018, you would have been offered a choice by the retailer for your bowl and mouthpiece system. Either the Solid Valve (the original) or Easy Valve setup.

Storz & Bickel has released their latest edition of the Volcano, the Hybrid. The Hybrid now allows you to control the airspeed as well as the temperature, allowing users to choose either the bag or whip delivery method. Essentially, this Hybrid setup replaces the Solid Valve but is only compatible with Hybrid Volcanos. As a result, Solid Valve parts are being discontinued.

If you own a Classic Volcano there’s no need to panic. We suggest switching to the new Easy Valve set up so you can easily replace items like screens and bags keeping your Volcano clean and operating at its peak. When the time is right for you the switch will be easy. Here’s what you’ll need:

At the time of writing this blog, we still have a hardy supply of Solid Valve parts.

If you’re not exactly sure which setup you already have, here is a quick rundown.

The Solid Valve set up features a tall cylindrical bowl, heavy-duty valve, and mouthpiece connected to the bag. The bag is detachable from the mouthpiece for easy replacement.

The Easy Valve setup features a short, wider bowl with a mouthpiece attached to the bag. The newly updated Easy Valve setup now comes with one detachable bag and four regular bags. The bags originally were not detachable from the mouthpiece.

Replacement Bags

Replacing bags on either setup is easy with this 10ft roll of material. Simply cut the roll at your desired length, 2ft is the standard pre-made bag size. Then attach one end of the open bag to your mouthpiece. Slide the black clip over the back, attaching it to the mouthpiece. Use the small strip of plastic included within the roll to tie the end of your bag, making a top seal. Voila!

Volcano and Storz & Bickel History

The industry leaders of vaporizers, Storz & Bickel began all the way back in Germany in 1996 when graphic designer, Markus Storz, started development on herbal vaporizers. Over the next few years, he conducted extensive research, patented his designs, and then released his revolutionary vaporizer, the Classic Volcano, in 2000.

It is fitting that Storz chose the first year of the new Millenium to introduce the world to the Volcano. Humanity was stepping into the future, and the Volcano’s sleek design and innovative technology were a symbol of the age. This machine and its detachable balloon revolutionized the vaporizer industry and quickly pushed Storz into the spotlight.

As demand grew, so did the size of the company, and in 2002 Jürgen Bickel came aboard as a business partner — the Storz & Bickel GmbH & Co. KG was officially in action. In 2003, they expanded and opened a U.S. branch in Oakland, California, shortly after the North American market quickly grew. In 2018, Storz & Bickel was acquired by Canopy Growth Corporation, a Canadian Licensed Producer (LP).
